I met Richards at a Christmas party during my studio’s stay at Mutiny Artwrx. I do not know how we began speaking but somehow our conversation lead me to showing him my studio to show him my works.

Richard’s personality is like a Skittle to me. Once you get past the hard outer shell and chew your way through the sweet candied shards, amongst the candy’s chewy center, there’s a healthy appetite to learn a little more about him. There’s just something about the juxtaposition that keeps you coming back for more. And that, my friends, is how Richards personality came off to me. Nothing bad!! Just different… in the best way.

Later down the line, I moved out of the studio and now I am following the artist that once had a studio in Mutiny as well. Richard! 🙂

Recently, I’ve noticed Richard posting more and more about his journey and life since he became paralyzed. The thing that draws me to Richard is his hunger for life and dedication to making his life journey’s experience not just about him, but about other humans that might have a similar perspective/physical situations.

Richard is out here getting it! I have two fully functioning legs and still not living to the capacity of Richard’s hunger for life. And that is what makes him so inspiring to me!! Richard is not creating YouTube videos, special media posts, and photoshoots in vein…. His vulnerability is within the dedication he spews for others that share a similar experience. Though I am not a paraplegic, he’s light is teaching me to love the life that I was given and to make the best out of it. We grow up with an expectation that things have to be perfect in order for us to enjoy life…. However, Richard is showing me through living our truths, we are able to reach the GREATNESS of our potential and actually help others through our vulnerability. It is up to us whether we move past the things that we view as “flaws,” to successfully make lemonade

Perfection is amongst us, it is just up to us on whether or not we see that perspective.
