Honoring Your Intuition

‘Don’t meet force with force.’

High level of conformity to public performance is not good for the mental health. Think of the huge militant color guard, keeping a stadium entertained as they march in unison to show off patriarchy and synchronization of their every movements. This can be the source of great distress– I am sure dances can relate.

A great way to keep internal balance in these situations is through Tai Chi– the practice of connecting your internal world/breath with the outer movements and stimuli.

Don’t meet force with force.

As the world grows speedier, our need to conform increases. We often constructively or subconsciously drawn out our own intuition from the external sounds of conformity. The proactive of mindful arts, such as Tai Chi and yoga, benefits us by directing our power inward. This drains out and draws us from external stimuli and lints the thoughts. These parallel practices are the constant expression of our individuality. However, the the mind-body proactive turns into entertainment, it looses its healing power.

Don’t get me wrong, there is street value in coordinating efforts with others as well as our sensitivity of what’s around is. However, the best way to contribute to society and enjoy optimum health, we must honor our intuition while keeping our emotional and physical balance. And the best way to do this is by practicing daily mind-body work, not for a crowd, but for YOU and your own glory.
